Here’s a link to a talk I gave recently that’s a good introduction to why we should consider using digital games in foreign language education: Learning to Play: Re-thinking Computer Games in Foreign Language Teaching and Learning. The script for the talk is also provided.
I have been listening to Julie Syke’s presentation at KFLC (which I was unfortunately able to attend synchronously), and she made mention of how she uses “Active Experience Points” to simulate a gaming environment in her classroom. I am very interested in this topic, but I have not been able to find any information on-line to illustrate what this point system is or how to implement it. Julie, would you be able to write a blog post about this topic or follow up with me?
Great website. Lots of fun information here. thanks
